CROWN MILL "JOHN GREENWALD SR."
I think they milled corn, wheat etc. also they sold building material, lumber, nails, bolts cement, plaster, etc. they also had a delivery service, via horse drawn wagon, don't know when this started, but must have been early part of the century, and closed when John Greenwald Sr . passed on, sometime in the 40's, Yes, there was a blond headed girl in the family, a beautiful young lady, her name was Joan, she was John the 3rd's sister, their folks were John 2, and Lelia, the home economics teacher at Socorro High School.....

Beautiful pictures of the Golden Crown Mill Company. The John Greenwald who built this mill was my great grandfather. He was born in Odessa,Ukraine, in 1842 & emigated to the US at 7 years of age in 1849 w/ his family. They settled in Fredericksburg, Wayne County, Ohio. John Greenwald served w/ the 1st New York Mounted Rifles during the Civil War. He moved to NM in 1880s because of health problems. Mill built ca 1893. My mother, Mary Magdalene, was his granddaughter born to John Osmond Greenwald. Joan was my cousin. My brother & I used to play all over the mill in the 40s-60s.
